When you want a change that lasts

Soundings

You've had your Sounding. Maybe it settled the thing you brought, and that's exactly what it's for. Or maybe it opened something that wants more time: a pattern that only shows itself across several conversations, a new way of seeing that needs a while before it holds in the day to day.

If that's where you are, this is what comes next. The same work, kept up over several months, in a calm and unhurried rhythm. I call it Soundings.

Overview:

  • For: when one conversation has shown there is more worth staying with
  • Rhythm: roughly every 3 to 4 weeks, 60 minutes each
  • Two shapes:
    • 5 conversations over 6 months (€1,750 plus VAT if applicable), or
    • 8 over 12 months (€2,800 plus VAT if applicable)
Who It's For

When there's more here

The people who carry on with me felt, in that first conversation, that there was more here and that it was worth staying with. They don't want a fixed curriculum, or a programme that decides from the outside what they should be working on. They want a reliable place to think, to try things, and to keep looking afresh, with someone who already knows the situation and how it has been unfolding.

The Approach

What continued work can do

We work on whatever is live at the time. The subject can change as the months go on, and that is part of the work, not a detour from it. Because I already know your situation, we don't start from scratch each time. We can follow patterns that only show themselves across several conversations, and look at what your steps in between have actually changed. And if something pressing comes up, we can settle it briefly by email.

The 3 to 4 weeks between conversations are deliberate. The real change happens in the gap: you try something, you watch how the people around you respond, you notice what shifts. Next time, we look at that together. Over the months, what grows is less a quick result than a steadier way of handling your own situation, one that holds even after we stop working together.

How it Works

A run of Soundings doesn't start from nothing

It grows out of the follow-up to your first conversation, when we both feel it's worth going on. There's no advance sale and no pressure. We decide together whether to continue, and in what form.

In a longer piece of work we meet for an hour at a time, usually every 3 to 4 weeks, online by video or in person near Munich, whichever suits you. We set the rhythm by what you need at the time.

If you're just stepping into a new and larger role, the first months are often better served by the transition work I describe under The First 100 Days. Soundings is the calm, continuous track for everything else.

Nothing Hidden

What it costs

Soundings is meant as company over several months, not a collection of separate appointments. The fee stands for a dependable working relationship across a set period.

Two shapes have proven themselves:

  • 5 conversations over 6 months: €1,750 plus VAT where applicable
  • 8 conversations over 12 months: €2,800 plus VAT where applicable
Which shape fits you, we decide together once we know what we're working on.

Payment in instalments is possible.

Good to Know

Questions that tend to come up

What if my focus changes along the way?

That's normal, and even welcome. Often it's only over time that what it's really about comes into view. We work on what matters now, not on a plan we fixed months ago.

What if it stops being useful partway through?

Then we say so, plainly. The shape we agreed gives us something to hold to, but it isn't a straitjacket. We'd look at what has changed and find something fair to you, whether that's a different focus or a clean stop.

What if I need fewer conversations than the shape allows?

Then your matter may be settled sooner, which is a good thing. We look together at what makes sense. The point was never to work through a quota.

Can my employer pay for it?

Yes. You'll get an invoice from me that you can submit. If they need it in a particular form, just let me know.

Can I claim it against tax?

Where there's a professional connection this may be possible, as a work-related or business expense in Germany. Whether it applies in your case, or how it works outside Germany, is best checked with your tax adviser. You'll get a proper invoice from me either way.

Next Step

How it continues

If you'd like to go on after our follow-up, drop me a line. We'll find a first date and settle the rest. And if you'd rather sit with it a while, get in touch when the time is right.

Staying in Touch

What's Underneath?

You can read how I think before we ever speak. "What's Underneath" is where I share honest reflections on leadership and the patterns that are hard to see from inside your own day. In English, with a German translation.
